Maclip is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The lifetime licence is $3.99 for the first 20 customers and $7.99 after that, and it covers up to 2 Macs you own. There is a 3-day free trial with full functionality and no credit card required.

When you download and launch Maclip you get full, unrestricted access to every feature for 3 days. No credit card, account creation or sign-up is required.

After checkout, your license key is sent directly to your email address by Dodo Payments (noreply@dodopayments.com) — it will not be displayed on screen. Once you find the email in your inbox (or spam folder), open Maclip Settings → License, enter your key, and you're unlocked forever.

Text, links, code, colours, images and files you copy. Each clip keeps its formatting, so pasting back into a document preserves styling — and ⇧↵ pastes it as plain text when you don't want that. Images are OCR'd on-device so you can search the text inside a screenshot. Maclip does not read anything you have not copied.

No. Your clipboard history is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 and stored only on your Mac — the key lives in your login Keychain and never leaves the device. Maclip does not upload clips, and it never opens a copied link to build a preview: link cards are drawn from the URL itself, on-device. It automatically ignores 1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain and concealed items, and Incognito Mode pauses capture entirely. The only thing Maclip sends to our servers is an anonymous installation ID used to validate your license and trial.

Yes — Incognito Mode pauses capture entirely, for 15 minutes, an hour, until tomorrow, or until you switch it back on. You can also exclude specific apps so Maclip never records anything copied in them, and password managers such as 1Password and Bitwarden are excluded automatically along with any field an app marks as concealed.

Only if you turn it on. Spotlight indexing is off by default, because publishing clip text to Spotlight makes it readable by the rest of macOS. You can enable it in Settings → Privacy & Security, and even then Maclip keeps clips it detects as API keys, tokens or private keys out of the index.

Yes. Maclip exposes actions to the Shortcuts app — Get Recent Clips, Search Clips, Copy Clip, Save to Maclip, Set Incognito Mode and Clear History — so you can build automations, and reach them from Raycast or Alfred too. Search covers both the words in a clip and its meaning, computed on your Mac.

Your clipboard history is encrypted with a key held in that Mac's Keychain, so it cannot be read from anywhere else — including by us. There is no cloud backup, so a reinstall starts with an empty history. Your licence is separate: enter your key again and the Mac is reactivated.

Maclip is built with native Swift and SwiftUI and runs on macOS 13 (Ventura), macOS 14 (Sonoma), macOS 15 (Sequoia) and newer, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Nothing is deleted. Maclip stops recording new clips, but your existing history stays on your Mac and you can still search it, copy from it and export it. Buying a licence resumes capture where it left off.

A single Maclip license covers up to 2 Macs that you own. If you activate a 3rd Mac, the licence is moved off your oldest Mac automatically and that Mac is told why the next time it checks in.
